FOR BETTER CUSTOMER LOYALTY AND BRAND STRENGTH: THE MULTICHANNEL RETAILER’S WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES ARE NOW AVAILABLE VIA APP.

Mobile shopping at Weltbild is now even easier. The multichannel retailer has launched a shopping app for its online shops in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The “Weltbild Shopping & Catalog App” is now available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

“App activity has set new records in recent years and is becoming more and more popular” says Christian Sailer, CEO of the Weltbild D2C Group. “With the Weltbild app, we want to make it even easier for our customers to browse through our products on the go.”

The app market in Germany grew rapidly during the coronavirus pandemic, in particular. According to Bitkom*, smartphone and tablet apps generated record revenues of 3.4 billion euros last year. This is more than twice what revenue levels were before the coronavirus pandemic in 2019. According to the industry association, sales in Germany are projected to be very high once again at around 3.3 billion euros.

SEVEN OUT OF TEN CUSTOMERS USE WELTBILD SERVICES ON THE GO

Today, 70 percent of customers already access the Weltbild online shop using a cell phone or tablet. Christian Sailer says: “We are pursuing a ‘mobile first’ approach, offering our app as an invitation to mobile shopping in addition to our web shop. It is user-friendly and intuitive to operate – this further optimizes our shopping experience.”

The shopping service is easy to understand and optimized for small screen sizes. The app also combines the mobile shop and Weltbild catalog for digital browsing. In addition to the categories offered through online channels, customers can also easily “swipe” through digital catalog pages – an eco-friendly option – to gain inspiration and add the products they want to their shopping baskets or save them for later with the touch of a finger. App users can also take advantage of the DeutschlandCard.

Strengthening the Weltbild brand: Visibility on the home screen

Our goal: to strengthen the Weltbild brand among consumers by increasing visibility. “Ideally, our app would become an online shop anyone could take out of their pocket any time and anywhere, to make a purchase in just a few clicks” Sailer explains. Once the Weltbild Shopping App and its red icon are installed on the user’s home screen, they automatically become a customer’s constant companion.

Adjacent measures are designed to stimulate interest in downloading the app and making purchasers: limited-time campaigns are available to access only through the app. In June, for example, Weltbild started one such campaign to accompany the launch, with savings available for purchases of select items through the Weltbild app. Marketing was continued in the June catalog, and the app will also be advertised in the newsletter and on social media.
